RAHWAY VALLEY SEWERAGE AUTHORITY Rahway, N.J. — The Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority (RVSA) announced at the Feb. 19 Board meeting the election of Charles P. Lombardo of Garwood as Chairman and Robert G. Luban of Woodbridge as Vice Chairman of the RVSA 2009 Board of Commissioners. In addition, the Authority welcomes a new member to the Board this year: Rene Dierkes representing Mountainside. Mr. Lombardo has more than 14 years of dedicated service to the RVSA, having been appointed to the board in 1995 and previously serving one term as Chairman. Active in his community, Mr. Lombardo served seven terms as Councilman in the Borough of Garwood, and served as Borough Council President and both Police and Fire Commissioner. He also served as liaison to the Union County Solid Waste Authority, the School Board, the Planning Board, the Shade Tree Commission and the Union County Air Traffic Noise Advisory Board. He is a communicant of the Church of St. Anne, a member of the Knights of Columbus (third degree) and a member of the National Eagle Scout Association. Mr. Lombardo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University, N.J., and a Masters of Public Administration from Kean University, N.J. He is presently employed by the County of Union, Department of Public Works as the Safety Coordinator. Leading the 2009 RVSA Board of Commissioners with Mr. Lombardo is Vice Chairman Mr. Luban, who has served on the RVSA Board for 14 years. He is currently Council President serving a sixth term as Fifth Ward Councilman in Woodbridge Township, and has previously served as both Council President and as Vice-President. He is a former member of the Governor's Council on Affordable Housing, the Middlesex County Improvement Authority, the Middlesex County Economic Opportunities Corporation and the Woodbridge Township Planning Board. Mr. Luban graduated from Kean University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management. He retired from AT&T Corporation in 1998 after 16 years where he worked in Data Processing, Auditing, and Marketing. Michael J. Brinker, Jr., RVSA Executive Director, said, "Without question we are living — and operating — in challenging times. It's more important than ever for us to continue serving our member municipalities as efficiently as possible. I am confident our 2009 Board is equipped with the experience and know-how to lead the Authority through the year ahead." The 2009 Board of Commissioners also has a new member, Rene Dierkes, who joined the Board in February to represent Mountainside. Born in Naples, Italy, Rene grew-up overseas on military bases in Italy, Germany and Spain. When he was 16-years-old, Rene's family moved to the states and he has been a Union County resident ever since. He has lived in Mountainside for the past 10 years. Rene is a former President of the Westfield Lions and the Westfield Jaycees. He holds a degree in Political Science from Seton Hall University, and is currently a Financial Advisor with Smith Barney where he has been employed for 20 years. |
